Do we live in our past, present, or future?
Which one would you choose?
To dwell in your past, to live for the present, or to anticipate your future?
For me, I would say, live for the present. The elders would say, remember your past, learn from your mistakes. What happened in the past, stays in the past. Throw it in a box, lock it up, and dispose it. It's a done deal. What I'm really trying to say is, why waste your time bickering over matters that you think you should have or should not have done.
The future? No nobody knows what lies ahead of us right? If we do, then there will be no excitement, will there?
The present. I would say, I live your life like its the last day. Seriously, we have no clue what so ever what tomorrow will be like. Maybe its just another mundane day or maybe you no longer cease to exists. You wake up one morning and just do whatever that comes to your mind. Feel like savouring a large bowl of local delicacy, just drive down and get it. Feel like throwing your hands up in the air and waving like a mad person? Just do it. Feel like dropping all you work (In my case, it would be tonnes of lab work!) and to just sing your lungs out at KTV, then drop all your work. Climbing up a tower and screaming your lungs out? Do it! Be spontaneous, do whatever comes to mind. Of course work is important, not asking you to basically ditch everything all the time (unless you can afford to do so, which is cool by the way), but work and commitments are not what life is all about. You have to go out there and do something. With friends, make some memories. Travel. Have conversations. Meet new people. Eat new stuff. Doing something insanely ridiculous. At the end of the day, you would have so much to tell and people could tell that you have lived your life. You could die feeling like a legend.
“You've gotta dance like there's nobody watching,
Love like you'll never be hurt,
Sing like there's nobody listening,
And live like it's heaven on earth.” - William. W. Purkey
